A Smarter Approach to Ice Maker Repair
Ice Makers are the newest addition to the SKUduction family. For the first products in this line, we took a different approach by focusing on the component that most commonly fails in twist-tray ice makers: the motor.
The result is a cost-effective replacement that allows technicians to repair the existing assembly rather than replace the entire ice maker.
Repair More and Spend Less
The clearest advantage of replacing only the motor is cost. By eliminating the need to manufacture, assemble, package, and ship an entire plastic housing, we can significantly reduce the price of the repair.
In some applications, the ICEMKR1 and ICEMKR2 cost as little as one-fifth the price of a complete ice maker assembly. That represents substantial savings, particularly when there is nothing wrong with the existing housing, tray, wiring, or ice-level components.
Replacing the motor also reduces the amount of inventory distributors and technicians need to carry. SKUduction products already consolidate multiple direct-replacement SKUs into fewer, more versatile solutions, but the ICEMKR1 and ICEMKR2 take that advantage even further. Their compact size requires considerably less shelf, truck, or warehouse space than complete ice maker assemblies.
Easy to Replace, Just Pay Attention
We tested these replacement motors across all available cross-references, and in nearly every application, installation was quick and straightforward.
For example, replacing the motor in a Bosch 00744441 required removing only two screws—one Torx T10 and one Torx T20. The remaining components were secured by plastic tabs. After allowing the assembly to warm to room temperature, a little careful movement and the help of a flat-blade screwdriver were all that was needed to complete the replacement in under 10 minutes.
As with any component replacement, pay close attention to wire routing and how each wire passes through the assembly. Taking a photo before disassembly is a simple step that can provide a valuable reference during reinstallation.

Installation Notes
Allow the ice maker to warm to room temperature before attempting to release or manipulate any plastic tabs. Cold plastic can become brittle, increasing the risk of damaging the existing housing.
Before beginning the repair, take a clear photo of the ice maker and its wiring. This provides a helpful reference for proper wire routing and reassembly.
